Discover how Dr. José Bahillo uses dental composite to restore damaged anterior teeth in this clinical case
Dr. Bahillo presents a clinical case in which he uses Aster dental composite from Kiyomi to restore damaged anterior teeth. This composite resin features an innovative silanization process, allowing for an ideal consistency to sculpt and naturally reconstruct the tooth’s anatomy.
Instead of more invasive options such as veneers or indirect crowns, Dr. Bahillo demonstrates how this conservative approach can effectively restore teeth with extensive damage.
By choosing less aggressive treatments, excessive removal of dental tissue is avoided and future treatment options are preserved in case replacement becomes necessary, thereby extending the lifespan of the teeth.
DIAGNOSIS
The first step is to carry out an accurate diagnosis of the teeth to be treated. This includes taking radiographs, photographs, and models to ensure proper shade selection and the use of a palatal silicone key to restore the lost shape.

DENTAL COMPOSITE TREATMENT
In the next step, absolute isolation is performed using a rubber dam, and any previous restorations affected by caries are removed.

Prior to the photographic analysis, the shade is evaluated to determine the layering of the successive composite layers (Aster Dental Composite by Kiyomi). Following a biomimetic approach, enamel is used in the palatal structure, dentin in the body of the tooth, and enamel in the vestibular layer. In this case, a palatal layer of A2 enamel, A2 dentin, and an outer enamel layer are used.

FINISHING AND POLISHING
For finishing and polishing, the process begins with macro-texturing using fine diamond burs or tungsten carbide burs to remove excess material and redefine the shape. Then, fine-grit Sof-Lex discs are used to refine interincisal angles, incisal edge length, and transition lines. Additionally, coarse burs are used to create perikymata developmental lines of the tooth that influence how light is reflected on the vestibular surface.
Finally, polishing pastes with progressively smaller particle sizes are used to achieve the final gloss.

ASTER: NATURAL AND LONG-LASTING DENTAL RESTORATIONS with dental composite resin
Aster dental resin (a composite resin for tooth rehabilitation) adapts to both simple and complex cases in direct anterior and posterior restorations.
Thanks to its innovative silanization process, it offers an ideal consistency for sculpting and naturally reconstructing dental anatomy. Its shade guide is based on the renowned VITAPAN® Classical scale, ensuring results that faithfully match the patient’s original anatomy.
This material features excellent mechanical properties, facilitating handling and ensuring the durability of restorations. In addition, its opalescence and fluorescence closely resemble natural teeth, achieving optimal aesthetic results.
