Usage Protocol for Dual Cem Resin Cement

Kiyomi Dental’s Dual Cem resin cement is an innovative formula designed to provide optimal and durable strength and sealing for both direct and indirect restorations. Thanks to its dual-curing system, it combines light polymerization (via photoactivator activation) and chemical polymerization (base + catalyst mix). Dual Cem ensures effective sealing in various clinical situations, adapting to both direct and indirect procedures.
It stands out for its exceptional strength, easy handling, and versatility, making it the ideal choice for professionals looking for high-quality results in a simple and easy process. In this article, we will delve into its usage protocol, providing a practical guide to maximize its benefits.
Usage Protocol
The usage protocol will depend on each substrate and/or surface material to which we will bond: enamel/dentin, composite resin, metal, zirconia, lithium disilicate, hybrid materials, fiberglass, or feldspathic ceramics.
Important: Before any procedure, color matching should be done at the beginning of treatment with the hydrated or saliva-moistened dental piece. This phase is crucial, as failure to do so can lead to variation due to dehydration of the dental structure, resulting in inaccurate color matching values that could affect the final aesthetic outcome of the restoration.
Dental Surface Preparation:
- Isolate the working area and prosthetic preparation.
- Perform acid etching with 35% or 37% phosphoric acid for 15 seconds.
- Rinse thoroughly with water until all acid is removed.
- Dry the cavity without dehydrating the dentin or leaving excess water on the surface.
- Apply K-Bond + Universal adhesive, rubbing it actively across the entire dental surface.
- Apply a light air stream for 10 seconds to evaporate the ethanol solvent.
- Prosthetic Surface Preparation (check the adhesive bonding protocol according to the material type: composite resin, metal, zirconia, lithium disilicate, hybrid materials, fiberglass, or feldspathic ceramics). Each of them is treated differently.
- Apply Dual Cem to the prosthetic surface that has been previously conditioned under the strict adhesive protocol.
- Position the prosthetic piece.
- Remove excess material using a brush or micro applicator.
- Light-cure for 20 seconds on each side (occlusal, vestibular, palatal/lingual).
- Finish, polish, and shine the interface between the restoration and the tooth.
Kiyomi Dental’s Dual Cem resin cement presents itself as an innovative and versatile option for achieving optimal and durable adhesive bonds in dental restorations. Its dual-curing system, combining light polymerization and chemical polymerization, ensures effective sealing on various substrates, adapting to both direct and indirect procedures. By following the detailed usage protocol, professionals can maximize its benefits, ensuring high-quality results with easy, safe handling. Dual Cem is, therefore, the ideal choice for those seeking reliable and excellent outcomes in their restorative treatments.
