K-Dam is the light-cured resin from Kiyomi Dental indicated for total or partial gingival isolation. Its application is direct, it does not run, and it offers excellent sealing power thanks to its thixotropic properties.
Also known as a liquid dam, it acts as a barrier without irritating gingival tissues. It has excellent light absorption capacity and dimensional stability.
Benefits of Using K-Dam from Kiyomi Dental as a Gingival Barrier
K-Dam is the ideal gingival barrier for protecting soft tissues during in-office dental whitening treatments.
The use of resins that act as gingival barriers during whitening procedures offers numerous benefits that must be considered, as they ensure both the safety and effectiveness of the treatment. By protecting gingival tissues, exposure of the whitening gel to sensitive areas is avoided, minimising adverse effects and improving the patient experience.
The benefits of using K-Dam during dental whitening treatments include:
Protects the gums
The resin acts as a physical barrier that protects the gums and soft tissues, preventing irritation or possible burns caused by hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide when applied intraorally.
Reduces tooth sensitivity
By preventing direct contact between the whitening gel and the gums, the risk of tooth sensitivity is reduced.
Improves visibility
Thanks to isolation of the operating field, direct visibility and access to the working areas are improved, allowing the dentist to perform more precise whitening treatments.
Precision during application
K-Dam acts as a delimiter for the working area, resulting in more precise gel application while preventing contact with the gums.
Greater patient satisfaction
The use of barriers such as K-Dam from Kiyomi Dental provides safety and increases patient satisfaction.
It also contributes to tissue protection during absolute isolation in other procedures, helping the dentist work more comfortably while optimising treatment times.
Step-by-Step Application of K-Dam
The application of the resin as a gingival barrier is an important procedure, as it ensures proper protection of the gums and soft tissues. Following the steps correctly is essential to guarantee optimal treatment results.
The first step is to thoroughly dry the gums and teeth in the treatment area. Then, apply a layer of K-Dam over the gingiva and interdental papillae until they are completely protected.
The second step is to cure the resin with a light-curing lamp (KIRA, Kiyomi Dental) for 20 to 30 seconds.
Once the treatment has been completed, the resin barrier should be removed using a spatula. It will detach easily.
