Interview with Dr. Alfredo Natera About Dental Whitening

Dr. Natera, as a user of Kiyomi’s K-Bleach whitening systems, what has your experience been like?

My experience with the K-Bleach whitening line has been excellent. Whenever I am looking for dazzling results, they are my first choice.

K-Bleach 35% Clinic is Kiyomi’s in-clinic whitening treatment. How would you rate its effectiveness compared to other whitening systems?

It is impossible for me to compare brands because results depend on many factors, especially those inherent to the patient, but I must say that these are top-quality products.

How do you evaluate the integrated heat blocker in K-Bleach 35% Clinic in terms of patient safety and comfort?

I do not use the thermocatalytic technique because I always use the K-DAM gingival barrier from Kiyomi to protect soft tissue in cases where high-concentration peroxide is applied. Regarding its usefulness, it is a very comfortable and easy-to-handle composite.

What is your opinion of the drop-by-drop mixing system of K-Bleach 35% Clinic in terms of efficiency and waste reduction?

K-Bleach 35% Clinic is an extremely efficient system that, when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions, ensures greater yield. With an appropriate protocol, it demonstrates even greater performance, efficiency, and effectiveness thanks to its high-quality formula.

You also use K-Bleach 16% Home, Kiyomi’s take-home whitening treatment. Would you recommend it to your patients?

Whitening treatments are undoubtedly the most conservative and minimally invasive treatments available, but this requires that “we professionals perform them properly.”

Low-concentration carbamide peroxides (10% or 16%) are the first choice for any patient who has an indication for this type of treatment.

Whenever each whitening treatment is carried out correctly (paying attention to every detail) and side effects are controlled from the very first appointment, success is ensured through knowledge and biosafety. This is why low-concentration carbamide peroxides are always the best treatment alternative.

On average, how long does it take your patients to notice visible results when using K-Bleach 16% Home?

The minimum approximate time to observe noticeable changes is 6–7 days after starting the treatment.

How do you assess the neutral pH formula of K-Bleach 16% Home in terms of reducing dental hypersensitivity?

Nowadays, every high-quality whitening system must have a neutral pH within the first minutes after catalytic mixing. It is a requirement based on science, evidence, and the need to reduce both the prevalence and intensity of hypersensitivity. Therefore, using a whitening system with a neutral pH is essential today.

What specific instructions do you provide to your patients for the use of K-Bleach 16% Home?

I explain the correct use of the gel regarding both quantity and placement, always ensuring proper oral hygiene before placing the trays and indicating the recommended application time. Once the application time has elapsed, it is important that they wash the tray with cold water.

I also advise them to follow an appropriate diet, reducing citrus fruits, acidic foods, and sugars. They should also avoid consuming food while wearing the tray.

Attending the necessary follow-up appointments is essential to ensure the success of the treatment.

Would you recommend K-Bleach 35% Clinic and K-Bleach 16% Home whitening systems to other colleagues?

Yes, unquestionably, as long as they are used according to the guidelines that govern a correct diagnosis and the execution of protocols aimed at treatment success, biosafety, and patient satisfaction.
