Kiyomi Protocol for Using Dual Cem Resin Cement.

The Kiyomi Dental Dual Cem resin cement is an innovative formula designed to provide optimal strength and long-lasting sealing in both direct and indirect restorations. Thanks to its dual-curing system, which combines light polymerization (through photoactivator activation) and chemical polymerization (base + catalyst mixture), Dual Cem guarantees effective sealing in a wide range of clinical situations, adapting to both direct and indirect procedures.

It stands out for its exceptional strength, easy handling, and versatility, making it the ideal choice for professionals seeking high-quality results in a simple and easy way. In this article, we will take a closer look at its usage protocol, providing a practical guide to maximize its benefits in clinical use.

Usage Protocol

The usage protocol will depend on each substrate and/or material surface to which adhesion will be performed: enamel/dentin, composite resin, metal, zirconia, lithium disilicate, hybrid materials, fiberglass, or feldspathic ceramics.

Important: Before any procedure, shade selection must be carried out. This should be performed at the beginning of the treatment with the tooth hydrated or moistened by saliva. This phase is extremely important because dehydration of the dental structure may alter the shade registration, resulting in inaccurate color values that can affect the final esthetic outcome of the restoration.

Dental Surface Preparation

  • Isolate the working area and prosthetic preparation.
  • Perform the etching technique with 35% or 37% phosphoric acid for 15 seconds.
  • Rinse thoroughly with water until all the applied acid has been removed.
  • Dry the cavity without dehydrating the dentin or leaving excessive moisture on the surface.
  • Apply Kiyomi K-Bond+ Universal adhesive by actively rubbing it over the entire dental surface.
  • Apply a gentle stream of air for 10 seconds to evaporate the ethanol solvent.
  • Prepare the prosthetic surface (verify the adhesive bonding protocol according to the material type: composite resin, metal, zirconia, lithium disilicate, hybrid materials, fiberglass, or feldspathic ceramics), as each material requires a different treatment protocol.
  • Apply Dual Cem onto the previously conditioned prosthetic surface under a strict adhesive protocol.
  • Position the prosthetic piece in place.
  • Remove excess material using a brush or micro-applicator.
  • Light cure for 20 seconds on each side (occlusal, buccal, palatal/lingual).
  • Finish, polish, and gloss the restoration-tooth interface area.
